Bespoke not broke – why fitted furniture is the way to go!
Don’t get me wrong, I used to love heading to the big blue and yellow Swedish furniture shop (that shall not be named) for some meatballs and a trolley full of random things I never knew I needed, and probably still don’t need. In fact, before joining my brother in the bespoke furniture business, I always just assumed it was the best way to furnish my house and that getting bespoke fitted furniture installed was not worth the time or effort.
There is no doubt that getting something built to fit perfectly into the unique parts of your home will be more expensive than a flat pack, but it doesn’t have to leave you broke, and it can in fact be one of the best investments you can make this year.
So, here are 5 reasons why bespoke fitted furniture is the way to go!
It can increases the value of your property
Storage space is a premium everyone is willing to pay for – myself included – I never seem to have enough cupboards, cabinets or wardrobes in my house to stuff random junk into. What I didn’t know is that building good quality storage units into the alcoves of my house would actually pay dividends - giving me more space and increasing the value of my home – double win!
It’s not fast food
I like fast food, but I usually feel like crap after eating it and it tends to add a few kg to the waistline. Fast furniture is similar, poorly made flat packs are consumed quickly and pile on the pounds (£££) when you have to replace them within a year. Bespoke fitted furniture on the other hand is built good and proper, by highly skilled craftsman with a depth of knowledge and experience, not a machine.
Your house will love it
Every home is unique, so finding the right piece of furniture to fit snuggly into those awkward little spaces, and do exactly what you want them to do, in the right colour, is like finding the holy grail. So why compromise - by going bespoke, you can have furniture designed to maximise the space in your home and also do exactly what you need it to do – trust me, your home will love it!
No costly add-ons
Have you ever selected a product, only to find out that the price you saw was for a base model, and that you actually need to pay extra to change the colour, make some shelves a little wider, get the nice handles or add in some lighting...? The best part about commissioning your own bespoke furniture is that you get to decide what you want, what you don’t want, you get a price upfront and no costly add-ons to trip you up down the line.
What you want, not what everyone has
I think this has probably happened to most people; I know it has to me. When you walk into someone elses house and there it is, the lovely cabinet you ordered online, the exact same one, what are the chances? Well, if online algorithms have anything to do with it, probably quite high. There is nothing wrong with everyone having the same furniture, but it does feel good to come up with an idea for your dream furniture item and to commission a company like woodfashioners to bring it to life.
My preferences have certainly changed; sure, I will miss the meatballs, but I know that having something bespoke made is not only great fun, but well worth the investment.
